Linscott R. Hanson is a graduate of the University of Michigan, both undergraduate and law school (1961). He practices in the areas of corporate law and estate planning. Lin is one of the drafters of both the Business Corporation Act and Limited Liability Act. He is a 20-year member of the Secretary of State's Business Laws Advisory Committee, and is a past Chairman. He chaired the Committee on Shareholders Alternative Remedies. He is former Chairman of the Illinois Bar Association Section on Business Advice and Financial Planning.

Lin has published books on corporation law and limited liability companies, and is a frequent lecturer and author on family-owned businesses, estate planning and related topics. Lin is co-author with Jeff McDonald of the Illinois Corporation System, the Illinois Limited Liability System and the Illinois Forms System.
