Paul S. Motin
Paul S. Motin, J.D., LL.M., CPA concentrates his practice in estate planning, asset protection, estate and trust administration, guardianships, and taxation. With over 30 years of experience, he is a 2020 and 2021 Illinois Super Lawyers Honoree, a designation limited to the top 5% of attorneys.
Originally from the northwest suburbs (a Maine North grad), Paul earned his Juris Doctor from William Mitchell College of Law (now Mitchell Hamline School of Law), of St. Paul, Minnesota, where he served on the William Mitchell Law Review. Paul also earned his Masters of Legal Letters (LL.M. — Taxation) magna cum laude from William Mitchell. He received his Bachelor of Science with a double major of Accounting and Business Administration from Winona State University, of Winona, Minnesota. In addition to Illinois, Paul is licensed to practice in Minnesota. Paul is a member of the Illinois State Bar Association and the Chicago Bar Association.
Always active in his communities, Paul served as a City Councilmember for Elk River, Minnesota, for 16 years (as well as the Economic Development Authority and the Housing & Redevelopment Authority) and has been active with the Chamber of Commerce and Rotary Club. Paul continues to be involved with his college fraternity, Sigma Tau Gamma, and has served for many years as a trustee of Sigma Tau Gamma Foundation, Inc., a multi-million dollar §501(c)(3) educational foundation. In fact, Paul was recently named the 2020 recipient of the Marvin Millsap Distinguished Foundation Service Medal.
